The Employability Forum produces and publishes reports, materials and practice guides on a regular basis. Refugee Teachers
The ‘Opening Doors for Refugee Teachers’ project has featured in the TES on 30-11-2007 and again in 18-07-2008.
The July 2008 editions of the DCSF run Primary Teachers and Secondary Teachers magazine features case studies of refugee teachers working in London schools.
The Opening Doors for Refugee Teachers project is featured in the September edition of Headway, the NUTs journal of advice and guidance for headteachers and school leaders. The article features Mohamed Hassan Abass’s journey of coming to the UK as a refugee and a teacher from Sudan, and the steps he has taken to retrain to gain QTS.
Besnik Deja teaches at Little Ilford Secondary School in Newham. In an interview with the BBC he explains the challenges he faces in achieving QTS in the UK.
