Policy

The Employability Forum is a lead player in influencing and analysing government policy on refugee integration and employment in the UK. We have worked with various government departments to develop policies, whilst remaining an independent organisation.

We realise that strong government policy is vital in helping refugees gain long-term, appropriate employment. It is important that policy is developed across the various departments of government, so that the functions of the DWP are as integrated as those of the Home Office, the Department of Health and so on.

A number of non-governmental stakeholders must also be involved in the policy process and Employability Forum helps to bring these diverse organisations together. We engage with voluntary organisations helping refugee clients; refugee professionals; refugee community organisations; and employers and professional bodies.

The Employability Forum is also keen to ensure that the views of refugees are heard during policy development.

We participate in a number of fora, including the National Asylum Stakeholder Forum and the London Strategic Migration Partnership. We also co-chair a Working Group on Refugee Integration with UKBA. For more information on any of the above, please contact us.
